Open Mic UK

KIRSTY MICHELE ANDERSON HAS BEEN CROWNED WINNER OF OPEN MIC UK 2009! A big THANK YOU goes out to all those who voted and supported from beginning to end!

Open Mic UK is a national talent competition to search for the UK’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres. The competition offers the competitors the opportunity to perform live in front of large audiences, generating media attention and exposure. Competing for the chance to win from the £25,000 in prizes, the winning act will have the opportunity to win a recording contact to release their single. The latter stages of the competition provide artists with the opportunity to impress judges and many guests from record labels, agencies and the entertainment industry.

The competition is divided into age categories; Under 18, 18-24 and 25 and over. All types of singers, vocal performers, groups and acoustic singer/songwriters compete each year. This year, out of around 10,000 entrants, only 20 acts in each category reached the national final.

At the final, celebrity judges score each performance, essentially looking at vocal/musical talent, stage performance, star quality and individuality. The act with the most points from both the judges and the audience will win in their age category. The singer is then named the winner of Open Mic UK and presented with a recording and management deal worth £20,000.
